Things You Need to Know about Data Center Tier

We are now living in the era where everything seems fast and is always available for twenty four hours and seven days. Internet is one of advanced technologies that have spread widely over the years. With internet, people started to create something in order to keep data in the safest place, called data center. If you have a company but do not want to spend too much budgets on keeping data, then data center is the answer. Data center and the system come in several forms, and one of them is Data Center Tier.

Data Center Tier is recognized as a system which is divided into four parts. This system serves to identify and determine the topology of data center site infrastructure which is different among the others. The Uptime Institute has classified Tier into four parts or classes. Tier I comes in 99.671% availability and it serves to create a single path or way for power but does not use extra components. It is also useful for cooling distribution. Tier II, whereas, has 99.741% availability. It has the same function with Tier I, but the difference lies on the redundant components. Tier II use those components. Meanwhile, Tier III owns 99.982% availability. It also serves to cooling distribution but with multiple active powers and extra or redundant components. Unfortunately, there is only one way is found active. The last, Tier IV gives customers 99.995% availability. Well, it means Tier IV has an advantage for fault tolerant.

So, based on those four classes of Data Center Tier, it has been recognized well that Tier IV is the best. However, for some reason, Tier IV could not be applied yet in Indonesian. Probably it is because of the sources of electricity, budgets or spaces. Data center, indeed, is mostly used by western people and companies to keep their data.
